Damon Silas, Psy.D
Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Professional Performance Development Group (PPDG)
Dr. Damon Silas has been involved with the Culture Shock DC organization since just after its inception in 2002. He began as a scholarship dancer and eventually worked his way from a principal dancer to team captain, and ultimately to Assistant Artistic Director. Following a brief hiatus due to traveling extensively for his job as a military contractor, Damon returned to the organization in 2012, at which point he began to dance with Afta Shock. He eventually took over the Artistic Director position in 2013 and held that position until 2016, when he relocated to the Charlotte, NC area. He has been a board member since 2012, and remains active on the board. Culture Shock DC has proven to be an immense part of Damon’s overall growth and development, not only as a dancer but as a professional and as a person. It has enriched his life in many ways, including having opportunities to travel with the continental US as well as abroad (to Switzerland and China); to see youth mature and develop into amazing dancers and positive influences within the community; and to teach others dance, thus sharing his love wherever he goes. He is forever indebted to the Culture Shock organization and family for all they have done and been to him on this music and dance filled journey of his.
